On the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, with the official and popular presence of the choir, “Al-Nama” revived a lyrical evening on the stage of the House of Culture in Homs, with the participation of volunteers from all governorates and accompanied by a musical troupe composed of 20 musicians and instrumentalists led by Jamil Bitar.

The evening, which was invited by the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development in the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture of Homs, also included a screening of a documentary film about volunteering in the department and another about the Basma Association to support children with cancer.

The volunteers, who numbered 30 young men and women, performed songs by the artist Fayrouz, including “My faith is bright” and “Do not neglect me, do not forget me,” in addition to folklore songs such as “Waqfli Khalini Boss Shababeek Al-Hilweh in Tartous”, “Yasmine Al-Sham on your cheek”, “Aal Salehiya” and “Ali”. Darb Deir ez-Zor", "Ya Wardin", "Samat Anin Naoura" and others.

During his speech at the beginning of the ceremony, Archimandrite Malatius Chatahi, Director General of the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development, stressed the importance of the role of humanitarian volunteers in supporting the needy, indicating the presence of 2,400 volunteers in the department, distributed among 56 social care centers and 44 offices in Syria.

In a statement to reporters, Director of Area Coordinators at the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development, Fadi Samaan, indicated that the department's volunteers are from all governorates, and that the proceeds of the ceremony go to the Basma Association, which cares for children with cancer, noting the importance of everyone joining forces to promote a culture of volunteering.

In turn, the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Homs and its dependencies, Georges Abu Zakhem, called for promoting a culture of volunteerism, supporting the needy, especially children, and spreading joy and good values ​​in society.
