Presidential: "We must organize a primary of the left", claims Anne Hidalgo

2021-12-08T19:41:29.990Z

The socialist candidate's campaign is struggling to take off, with only 4 to 5% of the votes in the polls.

Barely in the polls, the socialist Anne Hidalgo calls this Wednesday evening, on the set of TF1, for the launch of a primary of the left, less than two months after her official inauguration by her party.

"This fractured left, which despairs many of our fellow citizens, must come together to govern," she defended.

Without this rally, the "left will not be able to continue to exist in our country", she continued.

Anne Hidalgo thus proposes herself as a candidate during this primary.

If it does not take place, she will not withdraw her candidacy and will go, alone, until the end of the election, she announced.

Montebourg also for a "common candidate"

According to our information, several socialist executives were preparing in recent days an internal note intended for Olivier Faure, the First Secretary of the Socialist Party, or for the candidate.

She was to push Anne Hidalgo and the party to accelerate their campaign, while the polls only credited them with 4 to 5% of the vote.

Anne Hidalgo's announcement comes just after the publication of a letter from Arnaud Montebourg, who said he was ready to “offer his candidacy for a project and a common candidate”.
