Presidential: Valérie Pécresse's candidacy shakes up the right wing of the majority

2021-12-08T19:36:22.359Z

STORY - In the Philippist ranks, we want to believe that the figure of the former prime minister will block the pécressist temptations of a part of the liberal right.

The macronists did not see Valérie Pécresse coming.

The Philippists either.

Since the president of the Île-de-France region was nominated as a candidate for the Republicans (LR) in the presidential election, members of the right wing of the majority are worried.

Faced with this woman holding a liberal and regal line, like them, how to continue their work of fracturing the right?

Former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, who set himself this mission by creating his Horizons party, sees his plans thwarted.

"The appointment of Pécresse is not good news for Edouard, his initial bet no longer exists",

observes a minister.

"This situation blocks further debauchery for him."
