Abstract.
“The Republican Right is back!
», Exclaims Valérie Pécresse on December 4 at the headquarters of her party, rue Vaugirard in Paris.
With a smile on her face, she has just been designated by members as the Republicans' first woman candidate in the 2022 presidential election.
A surprise victory, as the president of the Ile-de-France region did not leave favorite to represent the right.
Faced with a Xavier Bertrand always better placed in the polls, and a Michel Barnier who seemed to collect the most internal support, Valérie Pécresse highlighted her femininity and her seriousness.
Both offensive and precise, the one who was minister under Nicolas Sarkozy succeeded in foiling the forecasts, in particular thanks to her pugnacity during the four televised debates organized by the party in November.
