The head of the Russian delegation to the arms control negotiations in Vienna, Konstantin Gavrilov, stressed that the risks of accidents threatening merchant ships are increasing in the Black Sea due to the activity of American warships.
"The security situation in the Black Sea region is under serious pressure, as American destroyers carrying Tomahawk and Aegis anti-missile systems are active in its waters," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Gavrilov as saying during a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna, noting that the presence of American destroyers " It increases the risk of serious accidents for merchant ships.”
Gavrilov called on "non-regional countries" to think about the fact that the intensification of their provocative activity in the Black Sea region under the false pretext of "protecting Ukraine" may lead to further destabilization of the military-political situation on the European continent, stressing that Russia constantly stresses the inadmissibility of a military clash in Europe.
Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed during his talks yesterday with US President Joe Biden that Moscow is interested in obtaining legally documented guarantees that exclude NATO's expansion to the east and to Russia's neighboring countries, including Ukraine.
