Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, affirmed that Syria continues its cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and regrets the attempts of some to distort this cooperation.
Ambassador Sabbagh said during a session of the UN Security Council that Syria stresses the need to get rid of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East because they threaten regional and international peace and security, and renews its unequivocal condemnation of the use of chemical weapons by anyone, anytime, anywhere and under any circumstances.
Ambassador Sabbagh added: The information of the initial declaration and subsequent declarations are complete and accurate, and Syria is ready to work transparently and objectively with the declaration’s evaluation team, stressing that Syria regrets turning some countries of the embargo organization into a platform it employs
to target specific countries.
