The market of the branch of the Syrian Trade Corporation in Sweida is about 350 tons of apples since the start of marketing the crop about a month ago to date, out of the total quantities of apples received by the branch from farmers for the current season, which amount to about 1150 tons.
The director of the foundation’s branch, Rabih Ghanem, explained in a statement to SANA’s economic bulletin that the process of marketing apples took place within the halls of the foundation’s branch in As-Suwayda and its two branches in Damascus and Aleppo, provided that marketing operations will continue in the coming period in proportion to the demand for it.
Ghanem pointed out that the branch continued to disburse the prices of apples to farmers, as the value of the amounts disbursed to them to date amounted to about 500 million pounds, according to checks transferred in their names to the Commercial Bank.
The branch of the Syrian Trade Corporation in Sweida received last season from farmers about 160 tons of apples, and in the previous season, 25 tons and 500 kilograms.
