According to all estimates by Betar Jerusalem, a new coach will not be appointed to the team until after the game against Maccabi Haifa, next Monday. This means that the assistant coach, Gal Cohen, who stood on the lines in the last game, will probably do the same in Sami Ofer.
So why not actually appoint a coach even before the game with the Greens?
A source in the team explained: "When you bring in a new coach, you want to have an immediate effect on the upcoming game. Against Maccabi Haifa it is a game that is more dependent on them."
But what will happen after the game against Maccabi Haifa?
Will a good ability against the champion, as Betar showed for example against Maccabi Tel Aviv, further delay the decision?
It seems not.
Moreover, if Yossi Mizrahi had agreed to accept the position of head coach, the Jerusalemites would probably already have a new coach.
Mizrahi, a Jerusalem legend and the professional director of the youth department, was called to save the team last season as well and managed to keep it in the league in a short time.
The thing is that at the age of 68, Mizrahi does not want to return to the stressful position, although chairman Eli Ohana would very much like him to coach the team.

Erwin Koeman earns 170,000 euros per season, so if you do not bring in an outside coach and give the credit to professionals from within the system, Betar will save the salary for the coach until the end of the season.
