The member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization affirmed their rejection of politicizing the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and using it as a platform to spread allegations of the use of these weapons in Syria.

The joint statement issued by the member states of the organization said: The work of the special missions of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in Syria, which is formed in agreement with its government, must comply with the letter and spirit of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons, stressing that deviation from these requirements is never acceptable.

The statement indicated that the use of the OPCW platform to spread unconfirmed allegations of the use of these weapons represents a serious problem, stressing the need to maintain the objectivity and impartiality of the Technical Secretariat in matters of rapid response to statements issued by states parties to the Convention on the alleged use of chemical weapons in armed conflicts.

The statement indicated that the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, as responsible parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction referred to in the Convention, firmly declare their commitment to a world free of chemical weapons and strongly condemn their use, including in armed conflicts, pointing out the need to preserve On the technical orientation of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the non-politicization of its agenda and the imposition of a unilateral vision of international law, including the free interpretation of the provisions of the Convention without taking into account the views of all member states.

The statement considered that the powers of the technical secretariat of the organization should not exceed the framework clearly defined for it in the provisions of the agreement, and that decisions related to harming the rights of the states parties to it should be based only on reliable and verifiable facts and conclusions and not on highly questionable reports issued by the investigation and identification team in Technical secretariat in violation of the provisions of the agreement and the powers assigned to it.

The statement called on the participants in the Chemical Weapons Convention to move to real cooperation through the exchange of information and consultations among them within the framework of the Convention and other existing international mechanisms in this regard, in particular regarding the provision of legal assistance to its member parties, expressing confidence that the effective functioning of the organization depends to a large extent on The professional, non-political and independent nature of the work of the Technical Secretariat.
