The Democratic Party Central Committee recently approved Li Hongbo, the former vice chairman and member of the Tsuen Wan District Council, to support Liu Zhuoyu, a candidate for the Southwest New Territories in his personal capacity.
Liu Zhuoyu and Li Hongbo were at Lai Street Station in Tsuen King Circuit today (8th) to win the support of voters.
Li Hongbo pointed out that when Liu Zhuoyu participated in the district council election the year before, he belonged to the pan-democratic camp, and his political ideas were similar to him. He also pointed out that the other party's performance in the district council was "consistent with what he said at the beginning," so he supported Liu's candidacy.
Li Hongbo emphasized that he only supported Liu Zhuoyu in his personal capacity and had nothing to do with the Democratic Party. He also stated clearly that if Liu violated the democratic stand and principles, "I will be the first to criticize him!"

Li Hongbo appeals to voters: Don’t waste a lot of votes
Li Hongbo and Liu Cheukyu set up a Lianhe Street station outside the Tsuen Wan Center in the evening. Many neighbours stepped forward to shake hands with the "didan" Li Hongbo. After receiving the flyer, some neighbours expressed their support for Liu Zhuoyu. Li Xiangjia said, "Don't waste your votes." , Liu Ze said: "There can be no voice in the parliament."
Li Hongbo pointed out that similar to Liu Zhuoyu's political ideas, and basically the same idea of democracy, he believes that the Democratic Party has the responsibility to support the "pro-democracy fellow travellers" to run for the legislative council elections when no one "qualifies".
Li Hongbo believes that even though the current political situation is very difficult, the Democratic Party, as a Hong Kong people’s political party, should strive for a platform to speak what the Hong Kong people say, "unless you slam me and silence me", and he also pointed out that it had presented to the Democratic Party on the eve of the special Central Committee. Party Chairman Luo Jianxi said that if the Central Committee rejects his application, he hopes to give him detailed reasons.

Li Hongbo said the need to take care of sick family members has limited participation
Li Hongbo, known as "Boge," said frankly that due to health problems in his family, he has to take time to take care of his family. He has just rushed back from the hospital to Tsuen Wan to attend the press conference. Therefore, even if he can support Liu Zhuoyu in his personal capacity, his level of participation is limited.
When asked about the fact that Liang Yiting, the vice chairman of the Democratic Party, had not applied to the Central Committee, she was the first to sign a consent form to support Hong Kong Island East participant Pan Zhuohong. Li Hongbo asked a reporter to "return to the Democratic Party", but thought that from Pan Zhuohong's ostensible remarks, it was worthy of consideration. I support it, and think that Liang’s approach violates the Democratic Party’s regulations. "Maybe he (Liang) is relatively young. In fact, I don’t need to be impatient. I will open the Central Committee in two days."
When asked if he is worried about losing the support of voters who "abandon the election" because he expressed his support for Liu Zhuoyu, Li Hongbo pointed out that compared with other district councilors and people in the district, his votes mainly come from his work in the district. "I don’t have much political votes." After he expressed his support for Liu Zhuoyu, no neighbors sent a message to criticize him. Therefore, "I can't see that there is a reason to give up support for Zhuo Zhuo."

Liu Zhuoyu was bombarded by fellow travelers: sad, uncomfortable
Liu Zhuoyu thanked the Democratic Party for approving Li Hongbo’s application, saying that Li stayed in the district council until the last minute and was DQ only after taking the oath. He also expressed respect to Li Hongbo for standing up and supporting him.
Liu Zhuoyu pointed out that he has set up at least 60 voting stations recently. Although there are voices opposed to his running for the election, he believes that the overall response of the public is "a lot of praise and apathy."
When asked about the odds, he bluntly said: "Two years ago (regional selection) no one thought I would win."
Liu Zhuoyu emphasized that he was not participating in the election for profit. He only hoped that in the next four years he would be able to sincerely speak up in the parliament and "help one step forward". Persevere, "I have to do it rationally (persevere)."
It is understood that Liu Cheuk Yu has been actively seeking support from local people recently. It is reported that he has received support from a district councillor from Tsuen Choi Tsing, as well as a Kowloon district councillor and a former district councillor from New Territories East who "fall into the water" behind the scenes.
