The joy of 2G at the ski lift - capacity limitation at mountain railways is a headache

From Saturday onwards, 2G instead of 2G-plus applies again to travel by mountain railway or ski lift. Means: The vaccinated or recovered status is sufficient, a rapid test is not required.

From Saturday onwards, 2G instead of 2G-plus applies again to travel by mountain railway or ski lift.

Means: The vaccinated or recovered status is sufficient, a rapid test is not required.

Rottach-Egern

- "We are very happy about this decision," explains Antonia Asenstorfer, spokeswoman for the AlpenPlus ski area association.

With the lift systems at Spitzingsee and Sudelfeld, the situation will be much easier thanks to the decision of the Bavarian cabinet.

It looks a little different with the operation of the Wallbergbahn in Rottach-Egern.

There the requirement to drive at 25 percent load is a problem. "That means that we can only carry one person in a gondola," says Asenstorfer.

If tobogganing starts again, this would lead to very long waiting times at the valley station, says Asenstorfer.

"There were already queues there before."

Requirements are currently not yet completely clear

Last year, the mountain railway was able to transport at least the members of a household together in a gondola, recalls Asenstorfer.

However, it is not yet clear whether there should actually only be one person per gondola.

Currently there is only initial information, says the spokeswoman.

Perhaps there are ways to avoid queues: "We'll see what is in the written decision." In any case, the Wallbergbahn will continue to operate, assures Asenstorfer.

Incidentally, the 2G-plus requirement was easy to implement for this railway, as Asenstorfer explains: "Since there is only one access, we were able to control it well."
