Geneva, SANA- The World Health Organization (WHO) announced today that the Omicron Corona mutant has appeared in 57 countries around the world

Geneva-Sana

The World Health Organization announced today that the Omicron Corona mutant has appeared in 57 countries around the world, with high cases of infection in the countries of southern Africa.

Reuters quoted the organization as saying in its weekly report on the epidemiological situation in the world: “More data is needed to assess the severity of the disease caused by the Omicron mutant and whether its mutations may reduce protection from immunity derived from vaccines against Corona.”

The organization added, "Even if the severity of symptoms is equal to or less than the delta mutant, expectations remain that the number of patients who need treatment in hospitals will increase if larger numbers of people are infected, and there will be a time difference between the increase in infections and the increase in deaths."
