Young director Wiam El Badaish tried to renovate the theater in terms of preparation and directing with his work titled “The Taurus Beast” and adapting it to the local environment and reality through projections and a directorial vision that was surrounded by some adventure.

The show, which opened the performances of the activities of the Fifth Suwayda Theater Festival, was put in the spotlight by the festival’s organizers during a critical dialogue session, where the theater director Ziad Kerbaj considered that the work was elaborate and woven with beautiful threads in terms of the performance of the actors, some of whom came out of the realistic phase to ridicule without going to clowning in partnership with the performance Good technician for music and lighting.

The journalist Moeen Al-Amatori said that the show had surprised the audience, and the performance of the youth participating in it was consistent and convincing with the text of the writer Aziz Nesin, as it was transformed to touch the concerns of the local community and project it to reality to align with the current situation we live in in light of what the war has produced, which is what the director is credited with.

From another point of view, the playwright Faris al-Halabi considered that the idea of turning a weak, cowardly person into a Taurus monster that everyone fears did not become clear in its required form, and that during the show several projections of reality were inserted, wondering if it served the show, the text, or the audience.

Actor and writer Saleh Azzam pointed out that the show is social, political, and comedic, and the setting made it into another text and created a paradox in its intellectual structure in that the monster in the main text was made by reality, while we find it here fabricated with intrusive hands that made it a monster, considering that projecting that on reality as a whole has some bribery.

Theatrical actor Hazar Nofal found a kind of risk in presenting a show with this length of time, with reference to some technical issues that are repeated on stage that are not in full conditions, which makes the actor fall into pitfalls in terms of the nature of the sound and the subject of movement on the stage and the presence of sentences that all the audience did not understand, while the idea of Nesin remains The Taurus beast is more powerful than the vision of the stomach with which it was directed directly at the end of the work.

Writer Mansour Harb Henedy pointed to the quality of the actors' performance, especially Samir El Badaish, who played the main character brilliantly, with reference to the director's great adventure by transforming the original script from serious into a script dominated by comedy.

Member of the jury, writer, actor, and theater director Walid Al-Debs saw that the director was able to find the true essence that Nissen wanted from the text by conveying human concern and using vocabulary specific to the local environment.

The jury member, theatrical director, Rifaat Al-Hadi, considered that it is the right of the show, after this effort and the intellectual shift of our reality, to achieve a large percentage of performances over the area of the governorate.

The director of the work, Wiam Al-Badayish, pointed out that renewal is required in the theater, and it may succeed or fail in this, as he worked on a new composition of the main text and writing it for reality within this stage, with his tendency to elongate the performance and his care to study what connects the audience to the stage.

And the play of the Taurus Beast reflected, over an hour and 45 minutes, a black comedy that simulates reality through the story of “Nuri,” the cowardly head of the family, who loses his identity card on one of his trips, and the criminal nicknamed the Taurus Monster benefits from it to hide behind his crimes. When the father is forced to file a complaint at the police station because of the owner who He wants to be expelled from the house, the police arrest him as a dangerous Taurus monster, then he is released, and everyone believes that he did that monster and treat him on this basis, to eventually turn into a real monster that stands in the face of pressure and harassment.
