At about 5 pm yesterday (8th), the police received a report stating that a bicycle was suspected of being stolen on Po Lam North Road, Tseung Kwan O.
During the anti-crime patrol, the police found a man and a woman acting suspiciously off No. 20, Baolin North Road, so they stepped forward and intercepted them for investigation.
After investigation, the police arrested the 46-year-old man surnamed Kwong and the 55-year-old woman surnamed Liang on suspicion of "theft."
All arrested persons have been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in mid-January next year.
During the operation, the police seized two bicycles worth about 4,000 yuan in total.
According to the police, as the Tseung Kwan O Police District is concerned about bicycle thefts of the same type, a total of 22 men and 2 women, aged between 10 and 83, were arrested this year.
In order to effectively combat related crimes, the police will continue to step up patrols of uniformed and plainclothes personnel at relevant black spots, conduct intelligence analysis and investigations on bicycle thefts, and take enforcement actions in a timely manner.
