In a collaboration between the US and Italy, NASA on Wednesday launched the "X-ray Polarimetry Explorer" (IXPE), a mission that will measure the X-rays released by black holes and neutron stars.

According to the researchers, the IXPE will offer more information on the nature of cosmic X-ray sources.
