The president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, promulgated the law of equal marriage on Thursday, which will take effect ninety days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
The president was accompanied by ministers, undersecretaries, parliamentarians and representatives of civil society.
Chile's Congress approved the law that enables same-sex marriage on Tuesday.
The Senate approved the bill with 21 votes in favor, 8 against and 3 abstentions, while the Chamber of Deputies approved it with 82 votes in favor, 20 against and 2 abstentions.
The Chilean Congress approves equal marriage
The initiative introduced modifications to the Civil Code, the Labor Code and the laws on the adoption of minors.
It also recognizes and protects the right to gender identity.
