State Comptroller Netanyahu Engelman will investigate the case of the prisoner pimp at Gilboa Prison, he said today (Thursday) in a conversation with students from Ariel University.
"The soldiers' descriptions of what is happening in Gilboa Prison should light a red light," he said.
"What happened there must be examined."
Engelman detailed that in an audit conducted in May 2020, it was found that out of approximately 153,000 reports of sexual assault, only 29 indictments were filed with sexual harassment as the only or major offense among them.
"The report raised deficiencies in the state's handling of sexual harassment," he said.

"What happened at Gilboa Prison must be investigated," the state comptroller stated.
"Even more problematic if the troubled wardens were conscripts."
He said that he intends to examine the issue of placing male and female soldiers in compulsory service within the framework of the Ministry of Internal Security such as police, IPS and fire brigades. "We will examine all of this in the eyes of the servants themselves."
Yesterday, the Knesset plenum dropped a bill to establish a parliamentary inquiry committee into the prison pimp affair.
According to the Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev - who is one of the opponents of the proposal - his decision stems from the desire to allow other proceedings that are being conducted in the State Attorney's Office to be exhausted.
