2021-12-11T07:14:20.843Z

Several departments had been on red alert since yesterday, awaiting the recession of rivers and torrents that had come out of their beds because of the rain and a partial melting of the snow.

The Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Landes, placed in red vigilance on Friday, returned to orange vigilance on Saturday morning for, among other things, flooding and avalanche risks.

"

One can reasonably think, in view of the flows coming from upstream, that the flood peaks will be reached during the night and this Saturday morning, but these very high levels could be maintained all weekend

" specifies The weather channel * , which maintains "

an orange alert level for the downstream part of the Adour

".

As for the risk of avalanches, as "light

snowfalls persist intermittently above 600 meters

", this becomes "

the most problematic, with possible spontaneous releases of cold and light snow under the effect of the thickness of the snowpack that has fallen since Thursday,

”added The weather channel.

Saturday afternoon, only light snowfall persisted on the terrain.
