"Liron is a role model": the show that moved Be'er Sheva
As part of "Purple Night", a project of Mifal Hapayis and the Shavim International Day for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a special performance was given by the "Blue Elephant" band and lead singer Liron Atia at the Performing Arts Center in Be'er Sheva.

On December 2, in honor of the International Day for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a "purple night" was held in Israel, a project of Mifal Hapayis and the "Shavim" organization, in which about 150 buildings across the country were lit in purple to raise awareness.
One of the main events, which closed the identification days with people with disabilities two days later, was a performance by the band "The Blue Elephant" at the Performing Arts Center in Be'er Sheva. The band is led by lead singer Liron Atia, who has been in a wheelchair for about two decades, after having an accident in his youth.
Atia recently led the introduction of an "accessible here" character, calling on all Israeli artists to join him and make sure to perform in accessible places, which are also suitable for people with disabilities: "It seems to me that this is the most accessible hall I have ever been to," he said before the show in Be'er Sheva. "We always check on our performances, but we realized it wasn't enough, so we started the character."
The spectators who came to the show enjoyed the various accessible means offered by the Performing Arts Center and the venue's director, Yigal Roitman, said: "The goal is to equalize the rights and conditions of people with disabilities, in living and in public space. But we do more than that. "
One of the viewers, Hadassah IV, was excited: "It's really exciting and empowering to see that this issue is being given a stage, and to come to an accessible place where you don't have to fight as a disabled person. It doesn't have to be that difficult."
Her friend, Jenny Els, complimented Latia: "If there is an artist in Israel who understands the difficulty, it is Liron. He is a role model and it is good to see that there is someone who watches over us and takes care of us."
