20 months of actual imprisonment were imposed on hunting deer in Eretz Israel
A judge of the Magistrate's Court in Tiberias sentenced the hunters of the deer, which is an endangered species, to severe imprisonment.
They used forbidden methods - in which they chase the animal on an ATV, and kill it when it runs out of power.

This morning (Sunday), the Magistrate's Court in Tiberias sentenced defendants to 20, eight and six months in prison for hunting deer in Eretz Israel.
Defendants were convicted of hunting without a permit, hunting with prohibited methods and animal abuse.
One of the deer that was hunted was in advanced pregnancy.
In the sentence, Judge Nir Mishori Lev Tov spoke about the seriousness of the offenses and that the Eretz Israel deer was an endangered species.
In the neighboring countries, the local deer species is extinct and remains only in Israel - and here too the deer population is in constant decline.
Also taken into account is the criminal record of one of the defendants in committing similar offenses in the past.

The method used by hunting offenders in recent years is to chase the animal hunted using ATVs.
When the deer's forces run out and he is no longer able to escape, the hunters kill him.
A hunted deer is sold on the black market at a price of about NIS 3,000.
