Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will take off today (Sunday) to visit the United Arab Emirates and will meet tomorrow with the regent of Abu Dhabi Muhammad bin Zayed, who is the de facto ruler of the country.
This is the first official and public visit of an Israeli prime minister to the United Arab Emirates.
The visit has been under siege in recent days for security reasons.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, the leaders will discuss deepening ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, with an emphasis on economic and regional issues that will contribute to prosperity, welfare and strengthening stability between the countries.
During the visit, Bennett is also expected to discuss with the regent the strengthening of the Abrahamic agreements and the promotion of relations between the two countries.
The two are also expected to discuss the Iranian issue.
In recent weeks, relations between the United Arab Emirates and Iran have warmed.
The UAE's national security adviser, Sheikh Tahanun Ben-Zayed, visited Tehran and met with President Ibrahim Raisi.
Amirat officials have even said in recent days that they do not believe further sanctions on Iran will be beneficial and called for the renewal of the nuclear deal.

A large delegation of journalists was supposed to accompany Bennett on the visit, but on Saturday night the Prime Minister's Office announced that due to fears of Gal Omikron's aggravation, the Prime Minister's entourage had been reduced - so journalists would not be able to join the trip.
