Hymns and chants sang of peace and love were sung from the Culture Palace theater in Homs, with choirs and bands, through a party titled “Christmas Wishes.”

The ceremony was attended by the choir of St. Romance, the chanter of Homs, led by Elias Samaan, the choir of the Good Shepherd from the Orthodox Youth Movement in Lattakia, and members of the Mosaic Musical Ensemble, led by Mario Boutros, who performed the songs “Baha Lailat al-Bahya”, “Had al-Shajara”, “Maryam in Christmas” and “Halloween” Continue to curse us,” as well as hymns in English such as “Joy to the World” and “Silent Night.”

The joint program of the choral included songs in Arabic and English “Noor Bada”, “Today Atana Barina”, “Santa Claus” and “Jingle Bells”.

The choir of St. Elian Al-Homsi, led by Father Isaac Sawan, sang the anthem of St. Elias Al-Homsi and the hymns of “Hope”, “Repentance”, “The World Was Alone”, “Glory to You, O Christ” and “The Star”.

Archbishop Georges Abu Zakhem, the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Homs, explained that the party is a sincere invitation to return our country as it was a cradle of harmony and remains a symbol of steadfastness, pride and victory thanks to the sacrifices of the martyrs for its sake, expressing his hope for the return of its displaced sons to it.

It is noteworthy that the St. Elian Al-Homsi choir was established in 2018 as part of the activities of the St. Romance School of the Reciter. It is concerned with reviving the heritage of special ecclesiastical chants written and composed by the school’s children. Since its establishment, it has presented several evenings in the city of Homs and is currently preparing for the first release of recordings of choral chants.

As for the choir of the Good Shepherd, it was established in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Latakia in 1996. It sings church and educational chants and gathers the talents of young people within one collective work. It includes choirs according to age groups, flower choirs, children, youth, adults and women, groups according to various musical styles, the eastern and heritage choir and the polyphonic choir.
