A bus crash in the Amazon region of Ecuador left 18 people dead and 25 injured, the Ecuadorian emergency and rescue coordination service, ECU911, said on Sunday.
In addition to the 18 dead, "
according to information provided by the staff of the MSP (Ministry of Public Health), 25 people were injured,
" the agency said in a statement.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening on a highway in the municipality of Huambi, in the city of Sucúa (province of Morona Santiago), in the south-east of the country and on the border with Peru.
The national police, quoted in the press release, indicated that the accident had occurred after "
a departure from the lane, with collision and overturning
".
ECU911 said the injured were taken to hospitals in the provincial capital Macas and Sucúa.
The bodies of the deceased passengers were entrusted to the morgues of these same hospitals.
