Judy Nir Mozes v. Neta Barzilai: "Hypocrisy. Attractiveness is part of success" | Israel today

Listen: A hard-working woman came out against the singer's decision not to participate in the Miss Universe pageant • "When we meet someone, the first impression is his appearance"

Not her queen:

Last Friday, Judy Nir Mozes came out against Neta Barzilai on Nissim Mashaal's radio show on 103FM, after it was announced that Barzilai refused to take part in the Miss Universe pageant.

As you may recall, tonight the 70th Miss Universe pageant will open in Eilat, which as expected in the weeks before it managed to provoke an international storm due to the fact that it takes place in Israel, with some candidates receiving threats and heavy pressure to withdraw from the pageant.

At the same time, another storm is raging in the country, centered on the debate over the necessity of this type of competition in the 21st century, with many coming out against it.

The one who was invited to participate in the artistic part of the competition reviewed was Neta Barzilai, but as Neria Krauss revealed last week in the Channel 13 newscast, Barzilai flatly refused.

"I was flattered by the offer to perform at this ceremony," the singer said.

Although updates have been made in the spirit of the period, I still think that a beauty pageant is a tough, outdated and diminishing concept.

It is time to move on. "

While many supported Barzilai's remarks and justified her refusal to take part in the competition, Mozes chose to oppose her remarks, as she shared with listeners on Mashaal's radio show on Friday. Although Moses has announced that Barzilai is her favorite singer in particular, for her it is a hypocritical announcement. "It's so hypocritical," she shouted at the beginning of the interview. "When we meet someone, the first impression is their appearance. It's just hypocrisy. When I do matchmaking between people, I'm always asked 'what does she look like? What does he look like?'" She added. “Most of the actors and filmmakers are attractive people and that is a big part of their success.

"The girls who come to the competition come of their own free will," Moses continued, recalling that she had served as a judge in the beauty pageant for two decades.

"No one comes by force. So many doors open for them," she said, mentioning Gal Gadot, who won the beauty pageant in 2004. "I do not want to be a bitch," she said, "but both Neta Barzilai and Noa Kirl ".

"She wants to be tested in what she is strong at. In her voice, in her songs. She does not want to compete with beauty," Mashaal insisted.

"She's not competing with beauty. She's supposed to perform there," Judy insisted.

"For the Israeli economy, this is a game changer. We are always in the headlines in the context of the Palestinians in matters of terrorist attacks. The world of tourism can win so many points." We also choose our leaders based on appearance and charisma, "she added.
