The Fox and the Grapes wins the Best Show award at the Sweida Theater Festival

The activities of the Fifth Suwayda Theater Festival concluded this evening with the theatrical show “I am Claudius”, in addition to announcing the results of the festival’s competition.

And the play Anna Claudius, which was presented by the troupe of the Directorate of Culture in the governorate, tells for more than an hour about a person who suffers from hallucinations and obsessions due to the complexities of life and is haunted by nightmares.

During a dialogue session after the show, the participants pointed out that the work was distinguished and strong, simulating life, societal and humanitarian issues, and was able to reach the audience, noting the directorial solutions followed by the director and his use of music and lighting in a way that serves the work, while others saw that the outstanding acting performance overshadowed the text and that the work was closer than A melodrama based on a single actor.

The characters of the play were performed by the artist Maan Dwaier, Mustafa Hammad, Dareen Azzam and Murhaf Saab, while the cadre of the decoration and scenography included Fouad Naim, the clothes, Hedaya Al-Basit, the lighting by Faisal Hatoum, the effects and the voice of Raad Al-Sehnawy and the assistant director Ossama Al-Barouki.

At the end of the festival, the jury decided to award the best performance for the play The Fox and the Grapes, directed by Layal Al-Hadi, the best directing by Walid Al-Aqel for the play The Dawn Messages, and a special jury award for the Taurus monster performance by Wiam Al-Badayish.

The award for Best Actor was awarded to the artist Maan Doueir for his role in the play The Taurus Beast, and the best actress was won by the two young actresses, Taj Naim for her role in The Dawn Messages, and Enas Al-Ghouthani for her role in The Fox and the Grapes, while the best music and lighting awards went to the play Anna Claudius and the best decoration award for the play The Maids.

The jury praised in an evaluation followed by a member of the committee, director Rifaat Al-Hadi, the richness and diversity of the performances presented despite the weak capabilities, which reflects a real theatrical movement that heralds the development of theatrical life in the governorate through the experiences of young people and the works of veterans in the presence of a large audience, pointing out that the committee adopted in its evaluation of the participating works the technical and technical standards Scientific applicable in many theater festivals.

The festival, which was organized by the Directorate of Theaters and Music in the Ministry of Culture and the National Theater Department in Sweida, in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture in the governorate, was launched last Tuesday on the stage of the Palace of Culture, and six performances participated in it: the Taurus monster, the maids, the fox, the grapes, the messages of dawn and dawn and now I am Claudius.
