Damascus, SANA- As part of the activities of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, Al-Amal Sports Club in Damascus organized a football match

Within the activities of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Al-Amal Sports Club in Damascus organized a wheelchair basketball match at Al-Fayhaa Stadium in Damascus, with the participation of two teams of the club’s trainees, including people with disabilities and the wounded of the Syrian Arab Army.

The meeting witnessed an enthusiastic competition between the players that confirmed their determination to overcome the challenges and through which they demonstrated their confidence in themselves and their individual and collective physical abilities.

The Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, referred in his speech to the distinguished technical level and high spirit of the players, which confirms that the disability does not discourage the challenge and prove self-confidence, indicating that the governorate is working to overcome the challenges and problems facing the club, increase support for it, and secure needs and requirements.

The player Ali al-Says, one of the wounded heroes of the Syrian Arab Army, said in a statement to SANA that practicing sports is important to compensate for the deficiency that occurred to the body as a result of the injury, stressing that sports activities help in the process of interaction with the environment and avoid the isolation that occurs as a result of the injury, pointing out that with determination and determination, victories can be made in different areas of life.

In turn, player Bader Al-Haggana indicated that participating in the match contributes to friction between the players and increases experiences, skills and physical fitness and constitutes an incentive for them.

President of the Syrian Federation for Special Sports Hani Al-Waz confirmed that persons with disabilities offer distinguished activities and participate in events abroad, where they have won many medals, pointing out that distinguished players, especially the wounded in the army, are selected through testing to qualify and train them.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated on the 3rd of December after it was first approved by the United Nations in 1992 with the aim of supporting this category, integrating it into society and raising awareness of its issues.

The match was attended by the Vice President of the Executive Office in the Damascus Governorate, Dr. Ahmed Nabulsi, the member of the Executive Office of the General Sports Federation, Abdel Nasser Karko, the Director of Social Affairs and Labor in Damascus, Daline Fahd, and the President of the Governorate Club, Muhammad al-Sibai.
