The Haifa District Court today (Monday) convicted Maxim Tal of murdering his wife Maria.
Tal was convicted of aggravated murder.
The murder took place two years ago in the family's apartment in Kiryat Bialik.
Tal claimed that his wife put an end to her life, but police investigators did not buy his claim and he was arrested, and an indictment was later filed against him.
According to the indictment, he murdered her because he suspected she was having an affair with another man.
In the verdict, the judges ruled: "The defendant understood that the deceased was not loyal to him, and even saw her correspondence in this regard," it was written.
"This bothered him greatly, especially after he had previously called the other and told him to end the relationship with the deceased. The night before the death, the defendant saw the correspondence exchanged between the two that evening and even photographed the correspondence by phone, on two different dates. In the morning, the defendant He went to work but stopped in a public park near the house, said he would not come to work and waited until the deceased's father left the apartment. "
According to the verdict, Tal then returned to the apartment and took his daughters to kindergarten instead of his wife, while begging her to go back to sleep.
He returned to the apartment when she was alone there.
"At this point the stabbing was carried out, and within six minutes of the date the defendant returned to the apartment, he called his mother and informed her that the deceased had committed suicide," the judges wrote.
"Afterwards, he called the rescue forces, refrained from following their instructions regarding attempts to rescue the deceased, and during the time that elapsed until the rescue forces arrived, the defendant even went in from his phone to the gallery with the photos of the correspondence he took - and deleted them."
Tal's sentence will be handed down later and should include life imprisonment and additional punishment.
