Mayfield, Kentucky: Death and Destruction by Tornadoes 3:36
(CNN) -
US President Joe Biden announced that he will travel to Kentucky on Wednesday to inspect damage from tornadoes and severe storms that hit parts of the United States over the weekend.
Biden said during a briefing on the storm with national security officials that he is working with the governor to make sure he is not in the way of recovery efforts.
The White House confirmed the trip and said in a statement that it will travel to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, for a briefing on the storm, and to Mayfield and Dawson Springs, Kentucky to inspect the damage caused by the storm.

Biden has spoken with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear several times since the storms and told reporters Saturday that he intended to make the trip.
"I said, 'I'd be happy to go, but I don't want to get in the way.'
When a president shows up, he shows up with a large number of staff, a large number of vehicles, a large number of ... we can get in the way unintentionally.
So what I'm working with the Kentucky Governor and others who may want me to be there is what I did: make sure that we are added value in that moment, and that we don't get in the way of rescue and recovery.
But I do plan to go, ”he said.
