While France had more than 40,000 cases on Sunday, the health protocol in schools was strengthened on Monday, December 13.
To curb the fifth wave of Covid-19, level three is now applied to all primary schools, with the exception of Guyana, which is level 4. The secondary schools are currently in Level 2.

New rules:
As of Monday, December 13, mixing by level and by class will be limited to the canteen at the elementary school.
The disinfection of dining tables will take place after each meal.
In general, physical activities and sports are practiced outdoors.
However, for those that take place indoors, only low intensity activities compatible with wearing a mask and the rules of distancing are authorized.
Indoor contact sports activities are not permitted.
Rules already in force:
Since Thursday, December 9, when the mask was already compulsory inside establishments, the obligation extends outside, in the playground from the first grade for students.
Maintaining reinforced ventilation and hand washing measures.
Wearing a mask is compulsory indoors for all staff as well as for students from elementary school.
Disinfection of the most affected surfaces several times a day and of the dining hall tables after each service.
What happens when a student has Covid-19?
Whatever the level in force in the school, the “
contact-tracing
”
protocol
remains the same for all elementary schools.
The rule of closing a class for a period of 7 days from the first positive case no longer applies since November 29.
Students are now tested, and when they test negative, they can return to class.
However, if three students test positive for Covid-19, the class will close for a period of 7 days.
