The As-Suwayda Agriculture Directorate has started implementing a plan to produce 195,000 forest plants within the Al-Ain and Namira nurseries for the current season.
The head of the forestry department in the directorate, Engineer Anas Abu Fakher, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter today that the production plan was adopted based on the facts to secure the various types of forest plants for the next season, in order to serve the needs of afforestation campaigns and afforestation plans to increase the area of green areas.
Abu Fakhr pointed out that the department is following up on the implementation of the artificial afforestation plan for the current season, as the cultivated areas have so far reached 20 dunums, and about two thousand plants have been planted.
The area of forests in As-Suwayda Governorate is about 12,055 hectares, distributed as 8055 hectares within state property, and 4000 hectares are private forests.
