The president of South Africa falls ill in Corona, 20,000 are diagnosed in the country every day
Ramposa, vaccinated in two doses, suffers from only mild symptoms, which were diagnosed after attending a memorial service for former leader de Klerk.
In recent days, there has been a sharp jump in the number of people infected in the country, probably due to the Omicron strain.
At this stage, there is no evidence that it causes a more serious illness

South African President Cyril Rampoza, 69, was diagnosed positive for the corona virus yesterday (Sunday), but he has mild symptoms, the presidency said. According to the announcement, "The president began not feeling well after leaving the state memorial service in honor of former Vice President Frederick de Klerk in Cape Town earlier today," the statement said.
At the memorial service, Rampoza, wearing a mask, paid tribute to the last president of the apartheid regime in South Africa, who helped negotiate the end of the white minority rule over the black majority. He also served as the deputy to Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black president.
"The fully vaccinated president is in solitary confinement in Cape Town and he has delegated all his powers to Vice President David Mabzua by next week," the presidency added.
In recent days, the daily number of diagnoses has reached about 20,000, probably due to the contagious omicron strain.
However, scientists from South Africa have at this stage found no evidence that the new variant causes more severe diseases compared to other variants.
