Prisoner Yael (pseudonym), one of five women prisoners who were involved in the Gilboa Prison prison affair, happily responded today (Tuesday) to the State Attorney's Office's announcement of the opening of the investigation file in the case.

"I was happy with the State Attorney's announcement announcing the reopening of the investigation against those who were in charge of me at the IPS," she said.

The State Attorney's announcement is a hope that justice will be served and the injustice done to me will be rectified.

I believe that a real investigation will lead to both indictments and a systemic change in the IPS.

Attorney Galia Shmilovich, representing the warden, said she was "proud to represent Yael, a young woman who was harmed by a security prisoner under the auspices of her superiors, and was trampled for more than three years by the entire system."

Shmilovich stressed the disregard for the severity of the affair so far.

"The injustice done to Yael must not be repeated. The system must acknowledge its mistakes and follow the State Attorney's directive in order to investigate the truth and to exhaust the law with those responsible. I see the State Attorney's decision as an important step not only for Yael but for victims of crime "Their investigation was closed without the investigation being exhausted."

"An important step for the victims, whose files were closed without the investigation being exhausted."

Advocate Keren Barak, who represents two of the prisoners involved in the case, said that "this is a turning point in the prisoners' case.

I hope that the further investigative actions and the collection of evidence from new witnesses in the case, who have already testified and those who are expected to testify later, will lead the prosecution to change its original and erroneous decision, and file indictments in this serious case.

The wardens I represent feel relieved and happy, and hope that this time the interrogation will be carried out seriously and flawlessly.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the public, the media and the Knesset in the prisoners' struggle for their justice and we will continue to fight until the indictments are filed and receive explanations on how and why the affair was covered. "

MK Ophir Sofer "The investigation will bring out the truth and clean up the stables in the prison service. Better late than never."

MK Katie Sheetrit said the decision was "another step until justice is served".

Earlier in the day, State Attorney Amit Isman ordered police to reopen the pimp's case.

According to senior prosecutors, Isman's decision was made after reviewing the case materials.

The sources said that a re-examination is required as part of the internal formal procedure, and this cannot be done when the case is closed.

A senior prosecutor told Walla!

"The decision of Lemberger (Deputy State Attorney - LL) to close the case then is not clear, and this thing will also be examined. Not every day such a decision is made to reopen a criminal case three and a half years after it is closed. The fact that the case is reopened is a certificate Poverty to Momi Lemberger and raises questions. "

Another thing that apparently influenced Isman's decision is an open testimony given yesterday by a soldier in the National Police Investigations Unit (IAS), in which he told new details that apparently strengthened the move. Gilboa Prison

As part of the affair, whose events began to be revealed as early as 2018, it was discovered that in Gilboa Prison, female soldiers were given compulsory service in prison to provide sexual needs to terrorists. At his request, without their knowledge in order to obtain intelligence information from the same prisoner.
