The harp instrument, with its soft, strong and distinctive voice, was the shining star of the musical evening, which was revived by the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Misak Baghboudrian, and with the participation of the Russian harp player Alexander Boldachev, on the opera stage at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts.
Despite the great peculiarity of the harp instrument by producing melodies whose vocal range includes all the sharp and low musical sounds that are provided by the large number of harp strings, which exceed 40 strings, this instrument deserved the starring role on a immersive stage with an audience who came to hear an interesting program carefully chosen by the Syrian symphony.
The evening included a solo performance of the Harp and a group playing with the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra for pieces by the most important composers of classical music, including “Fantasia”, a waltz by Mikhail Glinka, and a concerto for the Harp and orchestra, workbook No. 74 for moderate liveliness, melody and variations of Reinhold’s lively, lively movement.
The band performed medleys from the Star Wars movie by John Williams, and Prokofiev performed the Knights' Dance from the ballet Romeo and Juliet arranged by Sergey Nesterov.
It is noteworthy that the Russian harpist Alexander Boldachev is a prominent composer, teacher, musician on the world stage, guest soloist at the Bolshoi Theater and the recipient of many international awards. Specialized in the Higher Institutes of Music and Salhi al-Wadi for youth and children, and he worked with the Syrian harpist, Rahaf Sheikhani, in preparation for the International Fugitive Day, which was held in September 2020.
