"A revenge against the strongest opponents which will not stop our fight"
: the exiled opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya reacted with determination to the announcement on Tuesday of the conviction of her husband Sergei to 18 years in prison for
" organization of massive unrest ”
and
“ incitement to hatred in society ”,
among other motives. The
"revenge"
is none other than that of Alexander Lukashenko, in power since 1994, against the one who, in the spring of 2019, was one of his main rivals. But Sergei Tikhanovsky, a famous blogger now aged 43, was never able to compete in the presidential election. He was arrested three months before the poll and has been languishing since behind bars.
