Countless fairy lights and figures: a house in Lower Saxony can hardly be overlooked at Christmas because it shines in many bright colors.

Delmenhorst - In Delmenhorst, a town in Lower Saxony, a house attracts large numbers of people every year at Christmas.

Several thousand lights and colorful figures decorate the property of the Borchart family and make especially children's eyes shine.

As in previous years, the well-known Christmas house shines again this year.

No savings are made on jewelry: a total of 60,000 lights adorn the garden and the house right up to the top of the roof.

“There is nothing that is not illuminated,” said Sven Borchart.

The German Press Agency (dpa) reports on it.

As a special highlight, the 51-year-old named a life-size Santa Claus figure climbing a ladder towards the chimney.

A smoke machine and a three-meter high, rotating Christmas pyramid were also set up.

Every year Sven Borchart tinkers with his wife Martina and his son on the lavish decorations - and it pays off every time.

“The big reward are children who stand in front of the gate with big eyes and ask if Santa Claus lives here,” said Borchart.

Your festively decorated house for Christmas is now known far beyond Lower Saxony.

From the first Advent to New Year's Eve, the house is to be illuminated daily from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and attracts many visitors every year.

In recent years there has been regular mulled wine, punch and biscuits on site, but this is currently not possible due to the Corona * pandemic.

People are not allowed to enter the property, but according to Sven Borchart they can still see the whole house from the street.

As early as 2020, such a meeting in front of the Borcharts Christmas house in Delmenhorst fell through because of Corona.

The couple from Lower Saxony have been decorating their property for Christmas with enthusiasm for more than 20 years.

It started with around five fairy lights - now 60,000 lights are shining there.

But there is also a social thought behind all the effort: the donations collected annually flow into a project that offers therapeutic riding for children with disabilities.

So this year too.

Since the rush is enormous every time and has caused some traffic jams in Delmenhorst in the past, the street is only free for residents during the Christmas season, according to Sven Borchart.

However, everyone is always welcome on foot and in compliance with the distance and hygiene regulations.

And there are other destinations too: In the Kassel district, too, a colorfully decorated house with 70,000 lights amazes numerous people at Christmas.
