Update from December 13th, 2:07 p.m.:

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder commented in a video on the CSU's social media channels about bringing the Christmas holidays forward due to Corona.

He clearly ruled out an earlier appointment.

The country manager gave two reasons for this.

On the one hand, the number of infections would clearly decrease.

On the other hand, you are tested in school.

"Testing is also the greatest safety factor for the Christmas holidays," continued Söder.

In other federal states - such as Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt - the Christmas holidays have been extended.

In Lower Saxony, students are exempt from compulsory attendance from December 20th.

Baden-Württemberg enables students to go into quarantine from December 20.

The schools should remain open.

Update from December 13, 12:08 p.m

.: Due to the falling number of infections, the last two regional corona lockdowns in Weilheim and Freyung-Grafenau end this Tuesday.

The district offices of the two districts announced this on Monday in their respective official gazettes.

This means that restaurants and pubs can reopen, amateur sports and meetings are allowed again.

The same restrictions then apply in both districts as in the rest of Bavaria.

Corona in Bavaria: Söder Minister expresses concern before Christmas - "This is the great danger"

Update from December 13, 10:36 a.m.:

The incidence in Bavaria continues to drop slightly (see previous update).

In the

ZDF morning

magazine, Klaus Holetschek commented on the Corona situation.

When asked whether measures such as a shutdown or contact restrictions for unvaccinated people at Christmas can be expected, Bavaria's health minister described the continued high level of infection.

"We have to keep a close eye on Omikron, that is the great danger that threatens," said the CSU politician.

"I hope that we will have a nice party with the family." One still has to be careful and circumspect, said Holetschek.

However, he has the feeling that many people behave accordingly in order not to further burden the situation in the intensive care units.

Söder comments on Kimmich's vaccination decision

Meanwhile, CSU boss Markus Söder commented on Twitter about the latest decision by Bayern player Joshua Kimmich, who had confirmed that he wanted to be vaccinated after all: “This is a good decision.

Joshua Kimmich takes responsibility.

Every new vaccination is a contribution to the fight against the pandemic, "said Bavaria's Prime Minister.

Seven-day incidence in Bavaria is falling

Update from December 13,

6:16 a.m

.:

The seven-day incidence in Bavaria is 399.1 on Monday.

On Sunday the RKI reported a value of 408.6 (see first report).

The districts of Passau (748.0), Freyung-Grafenau (746.6), Weiheim-Schongau (702.2) and Bamberg (701.0) have the highest incidences in the Free State.

According to the RKI, the value in the state capital Munich is currently 276.2.

Corona worries in Bavaria: Söder is disappointed by unvaccinated people - "Talking our mouths fluffy!"

First report from December 12th:

Munich - The corona numbers in Bavaria are continuing to decline. On Sunday morning, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported a value of 408.6 for the Free State. This is the 16th decline in a row - on Saturday the value was still 427.5. A week ago, the RKI had given a seven-day incidence of 529.6 for the Free State. Despite the decline, Bavaria remains above the nationwide incidence of 390.9 on Sunday. No district and no urban district is currently above the 1000 mark. When evaluating the infection rate, however, it should be borne in mind that experts are currently assuming a noticeable underreporting by the health authorities.

The vaccinations in the Free State are progressing - albeit slowly.

According to Prime Minister Markus Söder, the policy was wrong with the assessment of the personal responsibility of the people with regard to the corona vaccination.

"As politicians, we actually overestimated the personal responsibility of people whom we valued highly," said Söder to the

Corona vaccination in Bavaria: Söder admits political misjudgment

"I thought that if there was a potentially fatal disease, a vaccine administered by the state free of charge would be accepted by all people." Instead, there is now a vaccination rate that is too low in Bavaria, said Söder.

“We talk our mouths fluffy so that people can please get vaccinated.

But then you hear other, deeper reasons why this offer is not accepted. ”So you have to protect the country“ in other ways ”-“ and protect those who do not want to be protected, ”emphasized Söder.

"That is the real paradox of this time."

So far, 9,200,871 first corona vaccinations have been carried out in Bavaria (as of December 10, 2021).

This corresponds to a vaccination rate for the first vaccinations of 70 percent.

67.80 percent of the population are currently fully vaccinated.

At the end of November, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved a lower Biontech dose for vaccinations for children.

Now, a few days ago, the Standing Vaccination Commission (StiKo) announced a vaccination recommendation for five to eleven year olds with previous illnesses and contact with high-risk patients.

But also healthy children should be able to be vaccinated on request and after medical advice.

The special children's vaccine will be distributed in Germany from tomorrow.

Around 240,000 corona vaccination doses are to be delivered to Bavaria.

The vaccination centers want to start vaccinations in a few days.

Bavarian vaccination centers start with vaccinations for children - parents can already register

"Around 24,000 vials of the children's vaccine were ordered from the vaccination centers alone," said Bavaria's Minister of Health Klaus Holetschek (CSU) in Munich on Sunday.

“That corresponds to around ten times as many vaccination doses and thus enables around 240,000 vaccinations.

In addition there are the vaccination doses for the doctors, who could order themselves. ”The start of the corona vaccinations for children in the Free State is still planned for Wednesday, said Holetschek.

"We have asked the vaccination centers to start vaccinations as early as possible, as early as December 15th if possible." The ministry also asked the vaccination centers to set up their own vaccination programs for children and separate, child-friendly vaccination routes.

Interested parents should make appointments for their children at the respective vaccination center by telephone.

In some cases there is also the option of digital registration.

Parents can therefore already register their children in the BayIMCO vaccination portal.

However, it is not yet possible to make an appointment.

In Munich, the "Riem vaccination center and, from mid-December, the Gasteig with a vaccination capacity of up to 1,000 vaccinations a day" are available for vaccinations, as stated on the city's website.

The Gasteig is currently being equipped with the necessary infrastructure (vaccination booths, check-in counters, IT, etc.).
