Queen Silvia will not travel to Dubai for Expo2020 as planned.

The palace has now published a statement on this.

Ekerön - Shortly before Christmas, Queen Silvia (77) and King Carl Gustaf of Sweden (75) should actually have made a longer trip.

The royal couple from Sweden should have represented their home country at the Expo2020 in Dubai.

Queen Silvia cancels trip to Dubai

Now the palace reports: The queen will not make the trip.

According to the announcement, Queen Silvia is sick and has therefore canceled a trip to the world exhibition in Dubai.

The 77-year-old born in Heidelberg has a cold, as a spokeswoman for the royal family of the

German press agency

confirmed.

Silvia did a test and was not sick with Covid-19.

Out of respect for the other participants, however, she decided not to travel to Dubai.

Her husband, King Carl XVI.

Gustaf (75) wanted to visit the expo from Tuesday to Thursday (December 14-16, 2021) as planned.

Sweden's queen at home with a cold

In the statement of the court spokeswoman Ulrika Näsholm in the Swedish magazine "Svensk Damtidning" it says: "The queen has a cold and has not traveled [to Dubai]." December removed from the Swedish calendar.

At the Nobel Prize ceremony on December 11th, the queen still drew everyone's attention in a dark blue velvet dress.

The fans are therefore now concerned about their queen.

The Sweden Royals' trip to Dubai caused criticism in advance

In the run-up to this trip to the United Emirates there was some criticism.

The trip pissed off some human rights activists with a Western understanding of democracy.

The escape of Princess Latifa (36), the daughter of Dubai's ruler Sheikh Muhammad bin Raschid Al Maktum (72), is particularly remembered.

According to her own statements, she was kidnapped and held captive on behalf of her father.

Princess Haya bint al-Hussein (47), one of the sheikh's wives, also fled to Great Britain from her husband's absolutist monarchy.

That summer, the family mourned a death report.

In November, the Spanish royals came to Sweden to visit.
