Penzberg - The request of EC Penzberg-Maxkron for new stick lifts on the Berghalde has come true: the club and the city built a system.

A good two years ago, the EC Penzberg-Maxkron submitted an application to the city: The municipality should please replace the stock lifts on the mountain dump with paving stones.

The asphalt plant was clearly showing its age.

At the city championships in August this year, Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) announced that something could be done with it in 2021.

"In fact, a long-cherished wish of the Penzberg stick shooters came true," said club secretary Georg Braun happily.

There was also positive news from the town hall: work on the Berghalde began at the beginning of December and is now complete, says the city's club and volunteer sponsor Thomas Kapfer-Arrington.

The work was completed with the active support of the municipal building yard, several volunteers from the cane shooters around their chairman Günther Kern and a specialist company.

Under the direction of specialist Georg Birgmeir, the active members of the club diligently laid stone by stone on the prepared area.

The preparatory work had been no less sweaty: Because holes had to be drilled in the "old, very badly damaged asphalt surface" in order to guarantee the drainage of the new surface, according to Kapfer-Arrington.

Around 35,000 euros in costs

If the surface is sanded and the weather plays along, the stick shooters have five new lanes available.

The town hall chief is satisfied: "Now you will soon be able to practice your precision sport on a new facility and no longer have to accept a track full of cracks, holes and broken gangs," Korpan told the EC members.

The city definitely reached into its pockets for the project: As the association's sponsor Kapfer-Arrington calculates for the Rundschau, total costs of 30,000 to 35,000 euros are incurred - minus the association's own contribution.
