District - The 2022 budget for the Miesbach district is in place.

The budget was recently presented to the district committee.

The district office in Miesbach should get more employees.

“We have enormous tasks to deal with,” said District Administrator Olaf von Löwis recently in the district committee.

The committee dealt with the budget for 2022 - and the major point of discussion was the increase in jobs.

In the end there was a vote against the submitted figures.

The district council will make the final decision on Wednesday (December 15th).

The district of Miesbach faces major tasks in the years to come.

The most expensive will be the replacement building for the district office.

Added to this are the long-term inevitable deficit of the Agatharied hospital and challenges in social services.

Child and youth welfare is a cause for concern

The child and youth welfare service, for example, called district treasurer Gerhard de Biasio “the area that worries us most”.

De Biasio expects a deficit of almost 900,000 euros (11.8 million euros) than this year for 2022.

The expenses are particularly high in the inpatient therapeutic area.

The number of cases of outpatient integration assistance is also high, including school support and curative education.

Despite all the tasks and costs, the Miesbach district is able to continuously reduce its high debts.

In 2022 it should go down by almost 5 million to 70.9 million euros.

At the same time, however, the reserves are reduced, since the deficit of the financial budget of 8.9 million euros is covered by liquid funds.

"We then still have 35.1 million in the savings book," explained de Biasio.

In the further financial planning, he nevertheless provides for a new loan of 2.6 million euros for 2025.

Bad news for local authorities

There is bad news for the 17 municipalities in the district of Miesbach: The district levy will not be reduced, as previously thought, but will remain at 52 percentage points. Despite the same assessment rate, the district takes in a good 2.7 million euros more (82.4 million euros) thanks to the allocation power of the municipalities, but at the same time has to pay 1.6 million euros more district levy. Kreuth's mayor Josef Bierschneider (CSU) has "been convinced that we will not reduce the district levy", although he had hoped that the municipalities would be relieved. But the district needs the income.

When it comes to spending, it was primarily the rising personnel costs that caused skepticism and criticism, although von Löwis, de Biasio and department head Maria Rode made their necessity clear.

Despite the increase in employees, the Miesbach district office remains below the Bavarian average, explained de Biasio.

"If we invest now, we can save later," said Rode with a view to digitization, restructuring and the future district office.

Public transport as a major topic of the future

Christine Negele (SPD) nevertheless warned against the obligations of permanent positions.

"We should be careful about that," she said.

Birgit Eibl (FW) even appealed to use the red pencil twice.

On the other hand, Cornelia Riepe (Greens) described the increase in jobs as an investment in the future.

It would also support additional investments, for example in residential construction, climate protection and public transport.

Jens Zangenfeind (FWG) also saw local public transport and mobility as a central topic for the coming years.

"If we take it seriously, we need more money," he said.

Because: “Goodwill is important, but we also need the means to implement it.”
