Minister Shaked decides: The seven-year-old's mother will not be deported Israel today

According to the agreement, the mother, a Thai citizen, will leave the country for a month and submit an application for entry back into the country that the Ministry of the Interior will approve • "The two will have the opportunity to live peacefully in Israel"

Daniel Lev, a seven-year-old resident of Tel Aviv, whose mother Coltida was a candidate for deportation, will not have to separate from her mother and the two will remain in the country

.

This was announced today (Wednesday) by the family's attorneys after they said that an outline had been reached with the Ministry of the Interior, with the intervention of Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked.

According to the agreement, the mother, a Thai citizen, will leave the country for at least a month to comply with the order issued by the court.

In Thailand, it will submit an application for entry back into Israel, which will be approved by the Ministry of the Interior.

As will be recalled, the expulsion of the mother according to the decision of the Ministry of the Interior stemmed from the fact that she lost the right to remain in the country, after her Israeli husband, the girl's father - died.

The girl's mother and uncle, Gilad Lev, petitioned against the intention to divorce.

It should be noted that according to the law, the girl is Israeli and therefore her citizenship and divorce cannot be revoked, but the deportation of the mother, who is not a citizen, will result in a situation in which she must take the girl with her or leave her in Israel with relatives.

It will be recalled that in an application to the court at the beginning of 2020, the mother's request to stay in Israel and obtain permanent status was rejected, since her visa expired and therefore a deportation procedure was initiated.

The Tel Aviv Family Court appointed a guardian for the girl, Adv. Dr. David Tadmor, and he immediately began to address the issue.

Today I responded: "I am happy to say that I have found in the Minister of the Interior an absolute personal commitment to ensure that Daniel grows up safely with her mother in Israel. While the Minister insists that the mother leave Israel in court, "A lawful visa. This is how Daniel and her mother Coltida will live peacefully in Israel, and for that I would like to thank the Minister of the Interior, and her excellent staff."

Daniel's aunt, Gilad Lev, and the mother's lawyer, Shira Ratzon, added: "Thank you to everyone who fought tirelessly and for a long time, for Daniel's right to grow up in the company of her mother, just like any Israeli girl."
