The Centre for Health Protection announced today (15th) that another Omicron has been added. This is yesterday’s imported case of 12498, a 21-year-old female patient who arrived in Hong Kong from the United States. She arrived in Hong Kong from the United States via flight CX845 on December 12, but it was just one case before her arrival. She had already developed cough symptoms and tested positive at the local airport. The Ct value of the test after admission was less than 30. According to the whole genome sequencing analysis conducted by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health, it was confirmed to be a variant virus strain Omicron.
A total of nine cases involving Omicron have been recorded in Hong Kong so far.
In addition, one imported case was added today. The male patient arrived in Hong Kong from Germany on December 13 and has no symptoms.
Less than 10 cases were initially confirmed today.
A 21-year-old female patient infected with the Omicron variant virus received two doses of Fubital vaccine in the United States on May 12 and June 2.
She had developed symptoms before arriving in Hong Kong on December 11, and the Ct value of the test performed on December 12 after admission was less than 30, and she tested positive for antibodies. The virus gene test confirmed an Omicron case.
A total of nine imported Omicron cases have been recorded in Hong Kong so far.
