Paris municipal police officers already on strike

Two months after the grand ceremony of enthronement of the first promotion of Parisian municipal police officers, an inter-union filed

The grand welcoming ceremony for the first 154 municipal police officers cleverly staged by the City two months ago, with a long speech from the mayor (PS) of Paris on the forecourt of the Hôtel-de-Ville, may -to be given way this Thursday to a parade of banners.

At the call of an inter-union bringing together the UCP, FO, CFDT, CFTC and Unsa, the members of the municipal police and prevention management (DPMP) are invited to stop working at 10 a.m. at 1 pm.

Objective: to obtain better working conditions.

According to several unions, the transition to the status of municipal police officers is not always synonymous with improvements for the agents of Paris.

“Our training time will be reduced.

We will go from 282 hours per year to 70 hours.

However, if they want a trained municipal police force, training is essential!

»Insists Jacky Mahé, from Unsa.

Instead of 6 hours of physical training per week, agents would only be entitled to 1 hour 30 minutes per week.

“We want all DPMP agents to have access to this training, which was not the case until now.

This training is a Parisian specificity.

It does not exist elsewhere!

But the subject of the number of hours is not closed ”, assures Nicolas Nordman, the deputy (PS) to the mayor of Paris in charge of Security.

"This reform, it is done at a forced march"

Another grievance raised by the trade unions: the modification of the hourly cycles. “It had to be done on a voluntary basis and it is far from the case. When you have a family life, it's not easy. And if a bonus is offered for night shifts, it will just be used to pay for gasoline for agents who live far away and cannot return by public transport. The agents do not have the means to live in Paris, they live in small and large suburbs and sometimes even in the provinces ”, underlines the representative of Unsa. “The schedules are more demanding because we want an ultra-proximity police force very present on the ground, in particular in the evening and the weekend. But in return, there is additional remuneration, ”retorts Nicolas Nordman.

“This reform is being carried out by force.

The mayor of Paris has made her political announcement, and after that it must take place, at all costs.

And in the end, we have the feeling that we are not being heard, ”regrets Hélène Garrigues, representative of the UCP union.

In the eyes of trade unions, the Paris municipal police would therefore not be very attractive compared to others from the suburbs or the provinces.

“The Paris town hall is not going to retain its agents like that!

Insists Jacky Mahé, from Unsa.

Dozens of police officers already on the move?

According to several union sources, out of the first promotion of 154 municipal police officers, several dozen are already leaving. “In the suburbs, municipal police officers work overtime, they are often armed and sometimes even benefit from social housing. The City of Paris should reserve some for its agents as well as places in nurseries, ”argues the mayor (LR) of the 15th century, specialist in security issues, Philippe Goujon.

“We only received 7 official departure requests,” assures Nicolas Nordman.

That is 4.5% of municipal police officers trained.

“It's a natural process.

Some may have had the opportunity to get closer to their place of life, ”says the elected official.

Proof of the attractiveness of Paris in the eyes of the deputy: the 1,640 people who responded to the call for applications launched urbi et orbi for the next recruitment of 400 municipal police officers.

“My door remains open,” assures Nicolas Nordman.
