Damascus-SANA

Within the days of Syrian plastic art in its fourth season, the annual exhibition of calligraphy, ceramics and photography was opened today at Dummar Museum of Modern Art, which included a large number of paintings and works by calligraphers and artists who mastered these arts and excelled in them.

The exhibition was accompanied by a workshop by Iranian and Syrian artists aimed at blending artistic experiences and visions as long as the Arabic and Persian fonts draw from one source.

Dr. Lubana Mushawah, Minister of Culture, pointed out during the opening that Arabic calligraphy is a great artistic and not material heritage, with its style, techniques and curricula, in which Arabs and others have mastered its writing. About her struggles and ambitions.

Iranian artist Leila Azimi, a participant in a workshop, showed that she works in the field of decorating, drawing and trimming, pointing to the age of this art and its use in the gilding of religious books and the Holy Qur’an, as it depends on the craft that we learned from our ancestors with the introduction of new ideas commensurate with the era.

Iranian artist Zahra Khaleghi indicated that she works in the art of gilding, which requires training and love to be mastered by a person, stressing the importance of invoking the arts of ancestors, preserving them and presenting them to grandchildren.

The calligrapher Dr. Maher Al-Munajjid praised the role of the workshop by exchanging experiences with Iranian artists, and the beauty of Persian calligraphy in its simplicity and its belonging to the impossible plain.

The plastic artist and calligrapher Ahmed Swar showed that the relationship of calligraphy with formation is modern, as the calligraphy depended on the types of lines. Less than a century ago, calligraphers began to enter artistic backgrounds and colors and perform joint works.

Zaka Ezzat al-Kahhal is a photographic artist who participated in a work about life, people and renewal through a shot of the Spring of al-Fijah, noting that the human feeling is what determines the validity of the shot from a technical point of view.
