The Coroner's Court opened an inquiry on the incident today (15th). The court revealed that the businessman was drunk when he was arrested and the doctor believed that he had an acute alcohol-related mental disorder.

He later admitted to the police that he stabbed his wife and children, but did not mention the motive and course of the crime.

Police investigations also found that a week before the incident, the businessman had browsed information such as severe blood loss and death, and stabbing the neck and chest with a knife while sleeping. It was also mentioned that his wife and children were dead and that he also "want to die."


Charged with two murders in connection with killing his wife and children

South Korean businessman Kim Minho (43 years old, hereinafter referred to as Kim), came to Hong Kong with his wife and children on January 6, 2018. A few days later, he was arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife and children in a hotel. He was charged with two murders. According to police investigations, Kim was born in South Korea in April 1975. He was the owner of a chocolate factory at the time of the incident. He and his wife and children entered Hong Kong as tourists on January 6, 2018, and then stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

On the 14th of the same month, drunk Kim was arrested for murdering his wife and children. He had minor bruises on his body.

Kim’s wife’s younger brother revealed that the company they operate in South Korea has debts. His wife’s younger brother once asked Kim for help, and Kim later said that they would resolve it.

The police therefore believed that this was related to Kim's crime.

Acute confusion on admission

Huang Zhiyuan, a physician in the Department of Internal Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, stated that when Kim transferred to the hospital on January 14, 2018, he was in a state of confusion, suspected of incontinence, and suspected of having pupils contracted under the influence of drugs.

Kim's blood test report also showed that he had metabolic acidosis in his body. The blood alcohol content was more than three times higher than normal. The urine report showed that he had anti-allergic drugs and drugs commonly known as "Viagra".

After admission, Kim's mental state slowly recovered. He said he had no serious medical history in the past, but agreed to have a long-term drinking habit.

The hospital diagnosed that Kim had an acute mental disorder when he was admitted to the hospital, and his greatest chance was related to alcohol.
