Tips for owners of photovoltaic systems were now given in an online seminar.

The systems would experience a renaissance through self-consumption.

Eglfing - The worries that owners of photovoltaic systems are worried that they could pay extra for operation if the subsidized feed-in tariff is no longer paid after 20 years are unfounded, according to Andreas Scharli. The energy manager of the community foundation “Energiewende Oberland” (EWO) even expects that its operation will be much more profitable in the future, as he said in an online seminar that he held at the request of the Eglfing community.

Scharli sees the future of electricity generation from solar energy in self-consumption.

Since a kilowatt hour of electrical energy can be generated much cheaper with your own PV system than it costs to buy, such a system promises profit in any case.

The energy expert even anticipates that energy prices will continue to rise in the long term, which will make your own electricity generation more and more lucrative.

It does not matter whether you have an old system that has fallen out of funding or whether you are buying a new one.

PV systems: self-consumption as an advantage

According to Scharli, self-consumption even has an advantage.

While so far south-facing roofs were mainly equipped with PV systems because they offered the greatest yield, roofs facing east and west are now also suitable because more electricity can be generated in the morning and in the evening, especially when there is a lot in the household Electricity needs.

When planning a new system, Scharli recommends not only thinking about household electricity.

He advises: “Fill up the roof” so that you can also operate an electric car and an electric heat pump.

“The heat pump is really good for new buildings,” says the energy manager.

In order to avoid expensive batteries in the house, both heat and cold can be stored in heated or cooled water.

The latter is advantageous, among other things, for farms that need a lot of energy for cooling milk.

Klaus Hochwind from "17er Oberlandenergie" sees another possibility of using excess solar power sensibly in direct marketing.

The operators of small power plants that have remote control can sell their electricity to consumers.

Apartment tenants can benefit from solar power

Harald Betz, who runs a tenant electricity system himself, sees this as another way of making sensible use of PV systems.

The landlord operates a system whose electricity is consumed by the tenants.

According to Andreas Scharli, tenants can also benefit from solar power, for example by generating part of the electrical energy they need with a balcony power plant and thus reducing their electricity bills.

Eglfing's mayor Martin Fortmaier wanted to know whether electricity storage systems, such as metal hydride storage systems, make sense in the house.

Scharli takes a critical view of stationary storage systems, since their production must also be included in the ecological balance.

However, charging electric cars can be useful, as they always have a battery.

These can then be charged when excess electricity is available.
