The corona pandemic brings severe cuts in the lives of young people: 2G rules in youth centers, there are hardly any leisure opportunities.

Many lonely and educators fear severe psychological consequences for young people.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - After school on the laptop, sleep in the evening and start all over again the next day: Many young people sink into the daily Corona routine.

Sports clubs are taking a break because of the pandemic, outdoor meeting places are not really attractive due to the weather - and the 2G regulation has also been in effect in youth centers for a few weeks.

The educators in the meetings fear massive effects on the young people.

"The situation is incredibly stressful for young people," says Rudi Mühlhans from the sponsoring association for youth work in Geretsried.

Corona and 2G: Young people suffer from the situation: "Social development stops"

It is not just about 12 to 18 year olds wanting more fun leisure activities.

"Social interaction and life in society are incredibly important for development," says Mühlhans.

"Many have been completely unfounded for a year and a half," he observed, "and now they are also locked out of the youth center, where they can meet their friends or escape the situation at home."

La Vida youth center in Wolfratshausen: Unvaccinated people are not allowed - "They are looking for a connection"

In the La Vida youth center in Wolfratshausen, the effects of the new regulation are particularly evident. Where otherwise 40 boys and girls lounging on sofa landscapes, listening to music or playing billiards, there are currently around four young people - spread over the whole day with five hours of opening time. Head Max Aichbichler sees this as a big problem: “Often young people come who are looking for connections and need society. When they are then in the empty youth center, it throws it back. ”The La Vida on Josef-Bromberger-Weg would be referred to as“ home ”by many regular guests -“ and part of it we now have to say in front of the door that we have them not allowed in. That completely contradicts our understanding of a youth center, ”complains Aichbichler. For the rejected children, not only does the time with the buddies fall away:“Many also seek contact with us employees because they want to talk about problems that they cannot solve on their own.” One topic has been addressed particularly frequently in recent months: the feeling of loneliness. The current regulation reinforces that: "Friendships have to pause, social development stops." Aichbichler looks desperate.

Young people are frustrated with corona requirements: They spend days in front of a PC and console

Children and young people need "movement, encounter and relationships," says Franz Späth.

The head of the Tölzer youth development department sees these three aspects at risk at the moment.

"Society must be possible for young people, otherwise it can have massive consequences, socially and psychologically." Many young people would shut themselves up at home out of frustration at the meeting places closed for them - "a reduction in their quality of life" - their days in front of game consoles or the computer spend.

Späth expresses understanding that the pandemic must be contained and measures must be taken.

However, he does not consider the 2G rule in the youth center to be the solution: “If the children can no longer come to us, some move their meetings to private homes - without compulsory testing, without masks, without supervision.

The infection process becomes uncontrollable, ”he fears.

Juice shop Geretsried also invites the unvaccinated: the company is relocated outside

The institutions react differently to the situation.

The juice shop in Geretsried is relocating part of its operations outside - the 2G rule does not apply outdoors.

"The house remains closed to all visitors," says a press release.

All young people can meet here at a fire bowl or away with outdoor games and children's punch, regardless of their vaccination status.

This also applies to sports that the Tölzer youth development program continues to offer.

Corona rules - pedagogue criticizes: "I miss the solidarity"

During the lockdown, in which youth houses had to close completely at times, the La Vida team from Wolfratshausen tried to stay in contact with the youth through online offers. “But that is hardly accepted. Most of them don't want digital youth work, ”says Aichbichler. They would much rather meet and talk face to face instead of spending more time on their smartphones or laptops. "You want social and togetherness," says Aichbichler. “Solidarity is spoken of so often during the pandemic. But when it comes to the regulations for young people, I miss the solidarity. The situation is not fair, ”also because people under the age of 16 are not allowed to decide for themselves whether they want a corona vaccination or not.
