The Police Narcotics Bureau intercepted a private car in Pat Heung, Yuen Long yesterday (15th), seized a small amount of cocaine, and arrested a man. The arrested man was a 46-year-old sergeant surnamed Zhang.

The police stated that the police officer had been suspended.

He has been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in mid-January.


According to the police, officers from the Narcotics Bureau intercepted and searched a suspicious man in a private car on Kam Sheung Road in Baxiang on the afternoon of December 15 and seized about 1.9 grams of perak cocaine in the car, with a market value of about 3,500 yuan.

After preliminary investigation by the officers, a 46-year-old male driver surnamed Zhang was arrested on suspicion of "hiding drugs" and "driving under the influence of drugs" and is currently being detained for investigation.

The case was handed over to the Narcotics Investigation Team for follow-up.

The police confirmed that the arrested man was an off-duty police officer.

It is reported that the arrested sergeant used to be a uniformed police officer in the Tuen Mun Police Station in the early years. He also served as an anti-triad work in the police force before. He represented the police force in the World Fighting Competition in early 2000 and won a kilogram-level runner-up award.
