The police notified a death in legal custody.
A 35-year-old Colombian man was unconscious when he was subdued by the police at 7 am on Thursday (16th) and was certified dead after being sent to the hospital.
According to the police, the police used appropriate force to subdue the victim, and later found suspected drug use tools on the deceased. Later, they will arrange an autopsy for the deceased to determine the cause of his death.
At 7:00 this morning (16th), the police received a report from the public that a non-Chinese man suspected of having a strong drunk had committed a nuisance at a hotel on Lockhart Road and destroyed it by hand at the junction of Luard Road and Lockhart Road Two taxis in motion.
It is reported that the man was holding "street paper".
The uniformed officers of the Wan Chai Police District and the Hong Kong Island Regional Stormtrooper arrived at the scene and found that the man was being subdued by another male passerby. In the process, he was emotional and struggling fiercely.
The police subsequently used appropriate force to subdue him and immediately called an ambulance.
The male victim was semi-conscious and was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment and was certified dead at about 8:12 am.
The case was followed up by officers from the Crime Squad of Wan Chai Police District. The officers have contacted eyewitnesses and found suspected drug use tools on the deceased. It is reported that it was a stripped straw.
The police will arrange an autopsy for the deceased later to determine the cause of his death.
