Indonesia announced today the registration of the first infection with the omicron mutant of the Corona virus.
Reuters quoted the Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadiqin, as saying in a statement, "The infection was detected yesterday evening for a hospital worker in Jakarta who has no history of traveling abroad," noting that no local transmission of the infection has been found so far, but there are five suspected cases of Omicron. Two Indonesians who recently returned from the United States and Britain and three Chinese are under quarantine.
The Omicron mutant, which was first detected in South African countries, has raised global alert amid attempts to prevent its spread and tighten health restrictions and measures.
