Three days before the election of the Legislative Council, a group of candidates finally sprinted. The current member of the wholesale and retail sector, the Liberal Party, Shao Jiahui, asked whether Lin Zhiying, the Guangdong Provincial CPPCC, who had run for the first time in the election, will be announced within a day.

"Hong Kong 01" interviewed two people earlier. Lin Zhiying said that the epidemic has hit business in the industry and suggested that they seize the opportunity to develop the sales market in the Greater Bay Area. He hopes to act as a guide to help the industry develop e-commerce.

Shao Jiahui agrees that the industry must expand cross-border e-commerce in the future, but emphasizes that it is not the only direction. "Retail includes diamonds, gold, chicken, duck, goose, and vegetables. It's not because many products are used in cross-border e-commerce. He believes that the first thing that must be dealt with is to complete customs clearance as soon as possible, and then to resolve the conflict between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

In this election, there is competition in major districts, and all sectors have elections. Will Lin Zhiying accompany him on the run?

"Participating in the election must go all out!" Lin denied it, saying that he had not received the blessing of the Liaison Office.

The Liberal Party has long been entrenched in wholesale and retail seats

Lin Zhiying, a former executive director of Bonjour Holdings, challenged the Liberal Party’s “Party Property” seats in the wholesale and retail sector. He said that he has 20 years of wholesale and retail experience. In terms of the new atmosphere, he has worked in large, medium and small enterprises, and he can also balance the voice and interests of the industry.

Shao Jiahui, who was running for re-election, entered the Legislative Council for the first time in 2016. His predecessor was Fang Gang who had been a party mate for three terms.

He said that there is still a long way to go back to the daylight view of the economy. In addition to the epidemic and the social atmosphere, global geopolitics have also slowed down the economic development of the Mainland. Hong Kong cannot be left alone. Therefore, he hopes to fight for re-election and continue to protect the industry, Hong Kong and the country.

Lin Zhiying advocates the development of cross-border e-commerce company Shao Jiahui: Retail may not benefit in real terms

The epidemic and social movements have hit the wholesale and retail industries severely. Both Lin Zhiying and Shao Jiahui believe that the first task now is to restore full customs clearance.

Lin Zhiying pointed out that while maintaining tradition, the industry should develop cross-border e-commerce in combination with technology to "make a big pie." He pointed out that the population of the Greater Bay Area is 70 million, which is 10 times that of Hong Kong. E-commerce does not require physical stores. "Open the door" to do business: "Many local retailers and wholesalers may take a good look at the Hong Kong market. They are all tourists from Hong Kong; but through cross-border e-commerce, products can be sold to the Greater Bay Area." He thinks partly Merchants lack experience in e-commerce. In the past ten years, they have been committed to promoting the interconnection of Guangdong and Hong Kong products, and they can act as a guide.

Regarding Lin Zhiying’s proposal of cross-border e-commerce, Shao Jiahui believes that "it is only one of the concerns, not the only one", and emphasizes the diversification of products in the industry. "In fact, from diamonds to gold, to chicken, ducks, geese, and vegetables are all relevant. It’s not that many products are available through cross-border e-commerce applications.” He believes that the development of cross-border e-commerce will benefit manufacturers, manufacturers or original creators. There may be a wide variety of products, and they are not necessarily unique, because their products are only for distribution or retail. If you put them on the Internet, you can isolate the results and put them tightly." Emphasize that it is not necessarily beneficial to them.

Shao Jiahui hopes to rebuild the image of Hong Kong Lin Zhiying: Should not wait for the return of tourists

On the contrary, Shao Jiahui believes that priority should be given to dealing with conflicts with the mainland. He pointed out that for a period of time, mainlanders have left a negative view of Hong Kong. As the social atmosphere has become calmer, "the SAR government must clarify the methods and do a good job of image. Well, bring the message to the country or abroad." At the same time, we must do a good job in education and publicity. "The citizens know that all people in the country are compatriots." Don't be affected by fake news. We call on everyone to let go of their differences. If friends come to Hong Kong for consumption, the market will be prosperous first, and the job market will be better first.” The epidemic should inspire the public, “A good economic and business environment allows everyone to live and work in peace.”

As the epidemic eases and customs clearance is imminent, can the number of visitors to Hong Kong resume as before?

Lin Zhiying said that he is optimistic, but it still depends on the objective environment, including whether there will be changes in the epidemic and the circuit breaker mechanism for customs clearance. In this regard, Hong Kong is relatively passive.

He always believes that Hong Kong should no longer wait for the return of customers, but should take the initiative to promote products to the Greater Bay Area or Southeast Asian markets. He hopes to use his own experience to organize the industry to participate: "I don’t want to be a passive legislator. Let the industry speak up first when something happens, and the department can take the initiative to explore new opportunities and new directions."

Lin Zhiying denies "accompanying the run": the candidate will go all out

Shao Jiahui pointed out that data show that retail business has rebounded to more than 70%, of which two-thirds are local tourists, and another one-third are foreign tourists.

He also mentioned that the government is forcing people to enter restaurants and listed premises to scan for "safe travel", referring to the industry’s concerns about the loss of customers: "Is 100% of the microphones must travel with peace of mind? I think everyone knows. , I will resume 100% (business), I didn’t think about it.” When asked how to evaluate his opponent Lin Zhiying, Shao Jiahui pointed out that after the election system is improved, anyone who loves the country and Hong Kong is welcome to stand for election.

The central government requested that "there is competition in each area, and every sector has a choice." Lin Zhiying was elected for the first time in this situation, and asked himself whether he was a "accompanying runner"?

He said, "You must go all out to participate in the election!" He said that he really wants to contribute to the industry and hopes to use his network to upgrade and transform the industry. That's great!" He also said that he had never contacted the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, and he had knocked on the door for the nomination votes.
